It’s the man-eating hit musical, “Little Shop of Horrors,” the new production of the Williamsburg Players! A meek florist-shop assistant discovers an amazing plant that will bring him fame and fortune. Unfortunately, the plant has a big appetite—for blood! The horror-comedy musical has book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken (they also wrote the songs for Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty and the Beast”), featuring tunes inspired by early-1960s rock ‘n’ roll, doo-wopp and Motown.
“Little Shop of Horrors” opens at 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, with evening performances continuing Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8 p.m. through April 20. Afternoon performances are at 2 p.m. Saturdays on April 6, 13 and 20, and 2 p.m. Sundays on April 14 and 21. At the James-York Playhouse, 200 Hubbard Lane, Williamsburg.
