The CAN Foundation Presents, ‘Conversations in Art: Art and Activism’, a performance screening followed by a discussion with Patricia Nguyen and Richard Luong, moderated by Asa Jackson, taking place online on May 26 at 7 pm.
Join us for the fifth installment of ‘Conversations in Art: Art and Activism’, in conjunction with ‘Together at the End’, a group exhibition featuring Charlie Lambert, Yusfu Abudul Lateef, and Patricia Nguyen.
‘Art as Activism’, is an online performance screening and discussion featuring ‘The Residency Exchange’ participating artist, Patricia Nguyen, Ph.D, and Richard Luong, CAN Foundation co-founder and board member of the Vietnamese Boat People.
The online event will include a screened durational performance by artist, Patricia Nguyen, created during her time as a participating artist in ‘The Residency Exchange’, that evokes the burdens of history, military/boot camp training, and forced Vietnamese migration by boat. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the artist and Richard Luong, a project director and board member of The Vietnamese Boat people, a nonprofit organization designed to highlight the experiences of Vietnamese refugees and map the Vietnamese diaspora. The conversation will be moderated by CAN Executive Director, Asa Jackson, and takes place during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
